While folic acid and folate may be marketed interchangeably, their metabolic effects can be quite different. Flat is the bioavailable, natural form of vitamin B9 found in a variety of plant and animal foods. Folic acid, while readily utilized by the body, is the synthetic form of the vitamin; it’s primarily found in supplements and fortified foods. The body is more adept at using flattery and regulates healthy levels by discarding excess foliate in urine.
It is found in dark leafy greens ,citrus fruit ,beans ,peas , lentils, nuts,cauliflowers ,corn.
Folic acid also maintains hair thickness and color.
Folic acid maintain hair follicle cell division and growth.
B vitamins, along with folic acid are probably the best hair vitamins because they facilitate in the transport of hemoglobin (the iron containing part of your red blood cells). Thus, they are primarily responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs into the other parts of the body, including the hair.

A dosage of 400 micrograms in men and 200 micrograms of folic acid vitamins for women is sufficient enough to promote hair growth. Remember though that folic acid supplementation for hair loss does not work overnight. It takes some time for hair to grow so you should expect some time for results to be seen. It usually takes about three to four months before you can notice a significant difference.
Signs of folic acid deficiency include anemia, increased fatigue, sore tongue, and graying hair. In addition, certain medicines, such as methotrexate used to treat severe psoriasis and some forms of cancer, can lead to deficiency.
